Sophia Setareh Kiapos is an Iranian-Greek American filmmaker, writer, producer, and artist based between Los Angeles and Athens. Her work leans poetic, emotionally expansive, and visually driven. She is known for her exceptional ability to work with talent and deliver standout performances.

Trained in ballet for over a decade, Sophia later studied dramaturgy at LAMDA and Chekhov at the Stella Adler Studio. Her path into filmmaking has been self-driven and multidisciplinary, spanning narrative features, shorts, dance films, branded content, and commercials.

Alongside her directing work, Sophia has led 30+ international dubbing and localization projects across Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and Amazon Studios, including English-language voice direction for Maestro in Blue and Benefits with Friends starring Bruna Marquezine.

Most recently, she completed her feature directorial debut, Royally Screwed, adapted from the New York Times bestselling novel by Emma Chase and starring Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jenny Boyd.

Sophia’s screenplay Arezou was selected as one of eight narrative features for Film Independent’s Fast Track program (2019), and she was selected for The Owl Screenwriting Fellowship in Athens, Greece (2025). She also facilitates creative retreats and mentors emerging artists through private coaching and workshops.
