Sophia Setareh Kiapos is a first-generation Iranian-Greek American filmmaker, writer, producer, voice director and artist based between Los Angeles and Athens, Greece. Her work is poetic, emotionally expansive, and visually driven, often exploring identity, memory, transformation, and the inner lives of women.
With over a decade of ballet training, and studies in classical acting, dramaturgy, and Chekhov technique at LAMDA and the Stella Adler Studio, Sophia brings a deeply embodied approach to directing and performance. Her multidisciplinary work spans narrative features, shorts, dance films, branded content, and commercials.
Most recently, Sophia directed the feature film ROYALLY SCREWED, adapted from the New York Times bestselling novel by Emma Chase and starring Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jenny Boyd, now streaming on Amazon Prime. In addition to her narrative directing work, she has directed 40+ international dubbing projects across Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and Amazon Studios, including English-language voice direction for MAESTRO IN BLUE and BENEFITS WITH FRIENDS starring Bruna Marquezine.
Her screenplay AREZOU was selected for Film Independent’s Fast Track program and The Owl Screenwriting Fellowship in Athens, Greece. Most recently, AREZOU was shortlisted for the WScripted Cannes Screenplay List, in partnership with Cannes and MUBI, as one of 30 scripts written by women and non-binary screenwriters.
Sophia also facilitates creative retreats and mentors emerging artists through private coaching and workshops.
